Your website is the first impression for 80% of new customers. And it's making a terrible one.
75% of people judge a company's credibility by its website design. 53% abandon a site that takes more than 3 seconds to load. 38% stop engaging if the layout isn't attractive. Your website isn't a digital brochure that's "fine as is" — it's your most important salesperson, active 24/7, talking to hundreds of potential customers every month. If that salesperson shows up looking sloppy, speaks confusingly, and never asks for the sale — you're losing customers every single day.
Mistake 1: No clear value proposition
You open the homepage and read "Welcome to Smith & Partners." You don't know what they do, who they do it for, or why you should stay. The value proposition must be in the first 2 lines: what you do + for whom + the main benefit. "We help small businesses generate customers from digital — without hiring an in-house marketing team." In 3 seconds the visitor knows if they're in the right place.
Mistake 2: The site is slow
Every second of loading costs 7% of conversions. A 5-second site loses 35% of visitors before they even see the homepage. The usual culprits: uncompressed images, cheap hosting, too many plugins. The test: PageSpeed Insights — if the mobile score is below 50, you have an emergency.
Mistake 3: Not mobile-first
65%+ of traffic is mobile. If the site doesn't work perfectly on a phone — tiny text, buttons too close together, impossible forms — you're losing 2/3 of visitors. It's not enough that it "looks okay" on mobile — it must be DESIGNED for mobile.
